Siblings Leon and Ursula grow up in comfortable circumstances. Their father is a wealthy university doctor and raises his children with strict authoritarianism. While his work leaves him little time for the children, his wife devotes herself almost exclusively to cleanliness and order in the household. Eventually, the siblings become outsiders with no friends except PIN. However, PIN is just a medical mannequin brought to life by their father's ventriloquism. Over many years, the children develop a very close relationship with the talking puppet and confide many secrets to her. While Ursula, now 15, slowly begins to make social connections, Leon continues to live as an outsider. For him, PIN remains his only friend, and he refuses to part with him under any circumstances. When his father notices that Leon's relationship with the puppet is becoming unhealthy, he decides to get rid of PIN. But then something terrible happens...
